A · 1.4 m cold only
Fridge bay + one end panel
A single 900 bay and an end panel. Fits under a covered walkway beside an existing grill.
A fridge outdoors fails for one reason and it is not the weather — it is no airflow. This is the run that solves it: vented bays at the base and rear, sized to the appliance rather than to the grid, with dry storage alongside.
900 fridge bay, vented base and rear, with dry storage either side.
The fridge bay
900 mm, vented rear and base. Sized for an outdoor-rated undercounter unit with 50 mm of rear clearance built in.
Dry storage
600–900 mm modules. Stainless inside both faces so a closed cabinet stays dry. Adjustable shelf height.
The wall itself
900 mm high throughout. Nothing tall stands above the counter, so the wall reads as one continuous surface.
What is in the standard build
Every line can be swapped for a different module at the same height and depth.
| Code | Module | Width | Why it is here |
|---|---|---|---|
| HW-07 | Fridge cabinet | 900 mm | Housing for a built-in outdoor fridge; outdoor-rated units only |
| HW-04 | Storage cabinet | 800 mm | Dry goods, serving ware, stainless shelf |
| HW-05 | Drawer cabinet | 800 mm | Cloths, tools, small items — 450 mm low drawer over doors |
| Total | 3 modules | 2,500 mm | 656 mm depth, 676 mm with counter |
Four details that decide whether it lasts
An indoor-rated appliance is not built for 40 °C ambient or for humidity cycling. The compressor works harder every summer and fails — usually in the second one, just outside the appliance warranty. This is the single most common outdoor kitchen mistake we hear about.
Heat leaves through the base and the rear. A bay with a solid bottom and 20 mm of rear gap circulates nothing. This cabinet is built with a vented base and a 50 mm rear clearance as part of the box, not as an accessory.
A fridge in full afternoon sun at 38 °C ambient is fighting the day. Under a roof or pergola it behaves like a fridge. We will say which your site needs before you order — sometimes the honest answer is no fridge.
Every panel is skinned on both faces with stainless over the honeycomb core. That is what makes the inside of a closed cabinet a stainless box rather than exposed core, and it is why the storage stays dry.
What you can change
The one thing we will not change is the shared height and depth, because that is what makes the modules joinable. Widths, door styles, internal fit-out, colour and the grill opening are all yours to specify.
Same grid, three briefs
These are real client briefs, not marketing variations. The modules change; the height and depth never do.
A · 1.4 m cold only
A single 900 bay and an end panel. Fits under a covered walkway beside an existing grill.
B · 2.4 m cold + dry
The configuration above. What most terrace builds end up with.
C · 3.0 m cold + dry + drawers
Adds a drawer stack for cloths and tools. Pairs with a sink a module away.
FAQ
No. An indoor-rated unit is not built for ambient swings or humidity and the compressor will fail, usually in the second summer just after the appliance warranty ends. Only an appliance rated for outdoor installation belongs in this bay.
50 mm at the rear and a vented base, built in. That is the minimum most outdoor-rated appliances ask for. If your appliance asks for more, tell us the model and we will size the bay to it.
Yes — a weatherproof outlet within reach of the appliance lead. We do not run electrical work; your electrician does. Give them the bay dimensions before first fix, not after.
A 900 bay will take a 600-class unit but with side gaps. It is not wrong, it just wastes width. If you already own the 600, send the model and we will confirm the fit rather than selling you the wrong cabinet.
It keeps rain off the top and stops splash reaching the appliance. It cannot stop ambient humidity, which is why the appliance has to be outdoor-rated in the first place.
